Santa Monica Police Captain Files Multi-Million Dollar Claim Against City

Pearson, Simon, Warshaw & Penny, LLP has filed a claim with the City of Santa Monica on behalf of Santa Monica Police Captain Mark Smiley. The claim alleges that the police department placed Captain Smiley on administrative leave with pay, predicated upon an internal investigation for alleged criminal wrongdoing in his capacity as Capitan. Since Captain Smiley was placed on administrative leave in November of 2007, he has not been provided with any detail or the status of the investigation.

The Santa Monica Daily Press published an article on April 18, 2008 regarding Captain Smiley's claim. For a copy of the article, please click here.
